Top 5 Gadgets I Can’t Live Without

I tried to resist technology for as long as I could. I was the last person on the planet to get an iPod, held on to my ancient PC until smoke started coming out the back and wrapping itself around ankles, and in fact, I still don’t own a digital camera. There, now you know my shame. Lately though, I’ve become something of a gadget hound. I see something with bells and whistles and I start drooling like a hungry puppy. In most cases, my lack of funds prevents me from purchasing said bells and whistles (much to the delight of my wife, I’m sure), but that doesn’t stop me from reading online reviews, playing with them in-store, and cutting pictures out to place on my vision board. Yes, I am a tech geek now, and I’ve got lots of hardware to back it up. I never thought I’d ever be writing an article like this, but here are my top five gadgets that I can’t live without.

1. BlackBerry

This thing is attached to the palm of my hand. Seriously, I had it surgically implanted about two hours after I got it. Okay, not really, but it may as well be. Email, Facebook, Twitter, games – oh my! Don’t talk to my about your fancy iPhone, I’ll take my CrackBerry any day of the week over it.

2. Sony E-reader

I resisted the digital revolution of fiction for as long as humanly possible. When I started hearing about all these e-readers everywhere I went though, I became to curious and made my wife buy me one last Christmas. You know, for research. Now I’m hooked, and the bulk of my reading is done on my Sony. I still buy dead tree versions of books, but not as much as I used to.

3. iPod

Although I don’t use it as much as your typical teenager or jogger, I still can’t imagine life without my iPod. Whenever I feel the need to take some tunes on the go with me, it’s there. Ready and waiting to sex my ears until the early morning hours. Oh iPod, why you do this to me?

4. MacBook

I got this thing almost two years ago now, and it still runs just as good as the first day I took it out of the box to caress its shiny white surface. I do everything on my Mac from writing and podcasting, to video editing and conference calls. I don’t think I’ll ever switch back to a PC. Yes, I’m one of those people.

5. USB Stick

These things are like digital Pez dispensers, are they not? Load ’em up with all sorts of stuff and carry them in your pocket, on your key chain, or of you’re into espionage – up your…well, you know. Dump the info onto any computer and your good to go. Safe, durable, fun, and practical, my USB stick is always by my side. Any one have an idea if they have holsters for these things yet?

So there you have it. The top five gadgets I can’t live without in no particular order. How about you? Do you have a tech toy that you can’t imagine not having in your life. Share you geek side below, and we’ll see.
