Flipboard App Turns Your Life Into A Magazine

Ever been interested in giving people a different way to check up on you?

Enter Flipboard, the new app for the iPad to drop today (July 21).  What Flipboard does is pull information from your social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter and then publishes the information in an electronic magazine.  The creators hope this will give people another more fun and creative way of keeping in touch with friends and family.

Users can customize the data they want shown as well as adding their own feeds should they so desire.  The app is free and available for download from the Apple App Store.

Katie Boehret of the Wall Street Journal decided to give the Flipboard app a whirl and had plenty of nice words to say about it.  “The most outstanding thing about this is that the magazine is very artistic looking. The pages look like pages you can actually turn, as you swipe with your finger. It looks like the page is actually creasing in the middle, flipping over,” Boehret said. “A lot of thought went into the design that you’re actually seeing in your personal magazine.”

Of course there are some glitches reported but it’s mainly because so many folks are trying to sign up for it.  It sounds adorable, but as a non-iPad owner it is of no use to me.  When will the desktop version show up?
