How To Delete Your Browser History

Depending on how public your computer is, knowing how to delete the browser history is actually quite important. Here is how to delete your browser history in Firefox, Safari, IE7 and Chrome.

Firefox – Navigate to “Tools” and use the drop down menu to select “Clear Recent History.” A pop-up screen will appear asking if you would like to clear your browsing and download history for a certain period of time. Select the box and press “Clear Now.”

Safari – Navigate to “History” and use the drop down menu to select “Clear History.” A pop-up screen will appear asking you if you are sure you would like to do this. Simply press “Clear.”

Internet Explorer 7 – Navigate to the “Tools” menu and select “Internet Options.” A pop-up screen will appear with all of your options. On this screen, find the area that says “Browsing History” and press “Delete.” You’ll then be greeted by another menu allowing you to delete not only history, but also files, downloads, searches and passwords. Press the “Delete” button beside the category you would like to delete or press the “Delete All” button at the bottom to clear everything.

ChromeFor Windows users, navigate to the “Tools,” menu and select “Options.” You’ll be given a screen with a few tabs, select the tab labeled “Under the hood” and then click “Clear Browsing Data.” Use the next steps to decide on a time period you would like to delete, then click “Clear Browsing Data,” again. For Mac users navigate to the main menu and select “Chrome.” Using the drop down menu, select “Clear Browsing Data,” and select the check box of the same name. Decide on the time period you would like to delete by using the menu, then click “Clear Browsing Data.”
